Windows 10 - unwanted update

Windows 10 Update....it would be advantageous to all if the most recent update had an option were one could select a time for the update. I just returned home from work turned my computer on and see a message "Working on updates, Don't turn off your PC. This will take a while". You know what I don't have a while at this time! There is another message that reads "Your PC will restart several times". Is there a way around these updates?
