Word 97 file won't open

I have always used word 97, it works for me. I'm currently on Windows 10. I skipped Windows 8. I did not graduate to any other Word format because they distort saved files and it takes too long to make adjustments. However, one file on which I have been working won't open and I am not sure how to do it. It's a puzzle.

Are you able to use a different computer, friends, library, work, etc., to try? Another thing is installing a free office program as LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice, etc. Several available on www.majorgeeks.com, never had an issue downloading from there.
