Chrome homepage shortcuts rearranged after Windows update

After completing a cumulative update from Microsoft, my Chrome homepage shortcuts were rearranged into a single row. Previously, they were displayed in two rows of four. This issue has occurred before, and I can't recall how to fix it. I have "show my shortcuts" enabled in the customization settings, but it hasn't helped. How can I restore the previous layout? Thanks.
