Slightly off topic but if any users want new themes/wallpapers, here is a great place to visit:

http://www.deviantart.com/ :)

(I only added the themes link because Data posted a couple of theme links in his original post!).

This gitter community room has now been closed.

When the thought occurred to create this room, it felt like a good idea, for any community members get to know each other in a different environment.
Like the light-bulb, many attempts to create one failed, only one attempt was successful...

@Ian or any moderator, feel free to close this thread I think it served its purpose, thx.

No worries @Data - I think creating a chat room for a forum is quite difficult (unless it's super, super busy) - as it's just another discussion media, for an existing one (if that makes sense). Personally, I don't use chat rooms, I as I don't have time to work with real-time chat like that - whereas forums are pretty convenient as replies can be a little slower :).

If I want to get to know you Data I'll just ask all those spies flying into my homeland this weekend with planes the Radar cannot track, to look into you, then keep an eye on the news station for threads to do with Donald Trump and Data mining. Something about 5-eyes *mischievous giggle*:p:mad:

I used to chat a lot, and have moderated on various chat forums too.

I grew wary of them though as more and more people appeared to become bullies fixated around a single personality versus other individuals. Newsflash - when I agreed to moderate the chat room I did not pledge allegiance to supporting the nastier side of some people. Example: People recording someone talking, then manipulating the recording and sitting on mic playing back the manipulated version to make it appear X said something about Y.

This Forum being text based, of course can be altered too, but the original threads are cached, so in my mind if it were ever needed one could prove one did not type X about Y.

I can see the positive side too though Data, in that, sometimes it would be quicker and perhaps easier to talk something through their computer problem, but given my general approach to problems, I'd be on all night trying to spell out all the commands to type verbally, and that soon would become somewhat tedious.
