Laptop enters sleep mode instead of hibernate

Two days ago, my laptop started using sleep mode instead of hibernate when I attempt to shut it down. The next day, I noticed a 3-4% battery drain. Checking the Event Viewer, it shows the laptop was in sleep mode and resumed unexpectedly.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
