Microphone not working with Google Hangouts

I tested it with Skype and audacity. The microphone was working with these.

are there any settings in Google Hangouts you can check?, I don't use it so have no idea!.

I looked at settings and there was nothing there regarding the microphone. My reply to you is with speech texter. It is a dictation program that converts speech to text.

How to turn on the microphone on Google Hangouts on a computer, you ask?

1. Join the Hangouts call by either initiating it or accepting an invite from another user.
2. Click the gear icon to open the call settings. Click on the gear icon.
3. Select the dropdown under the "Microphone" option and select the appropriate microphone.
4. Click "Done."

I hope this helps to neutralize the actions that may have happened and caused the Microphone to not work with Google Hangouts.

This message is with the dictation program speechtexter. Just prior I used Skype with no difficulty in speech. Then I had aN incoming Hangouts call; tried the GeAR - no success!
