When attempting to log in to my account recently, I received the message "Try entering your Microsoft account again. We don't recognize this one." I verified that the email was correct and not misspelled. However, when I attempted to create a new account using the same email address, I received the message, "(e-mail address removed) is already a Microsoft account. Please try a different email address." I'm unsure what to do, as it seems I have a Schrodinger's account that both exists and doesn't exist simultaneously.
