Icons in the Notification Area, formerly System Tray, are usually associated with an installed program or a Windows App and usually named. RIght-click the Taskbar, choose Taskbar settings and the section about what gets shown. The icons can be shown or hidden as desired. Also click the little up arrow ^ to see more.

I would suggest that, when weird stuff happens, the first thing to do would be to run an "Offline virus scan".

An unknown symbol in the system tray (hidden icons) could represent a background process, a third-party application, or a notification that doesn’t have an easily recognizable icon. To identify it:

Hover over the icon: A tooltip may appear, showing the program or service name.
Right-click the icon: It might give you more options or information about what it is.
Task Manager: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for running processes that could match the icon.
System Tray Customization: Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar to manage which icons are displayed.
