windows 10 to xp printer sharing not work
Can you ping the Windows 10 machine from the Windows XP machine by both IP address and NetBIOS name?

What third party security suite are you running on the XP machine?

Under Windows 7 x64 I could access my shared folders in the data manager of my bluray player (LG-BD390) only after completely uninstalling Windows Live. How can I do this in Windows 10 as those features seems to be built in. In Windows 7, the problem was caused by the Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant, which was installed with any component.

I disabled OneDrive (which is a component of the old Windows Essentials and now integral part of Win 10) but this did not restore access to my shares.

Thanks in advance!

Include the MachineName in the UserName Box
The NetBIOS Name of the machine you are trying to access, followed by a backslash "\" and then the UserName and then the password for that user name on that machine name.
So if the machine name was JohnSmith-PC and the UserName was JohnSmith your credentials screen should look like
JohnSmith-PC\JohnSmith
P@$$w0rd
(whatever JohnSmith's password is on the JohnSmith-PC machine).

What machine / Operating System is actually hosting this shared printer?
Your first images of an error looked like they were from an XP machine the second image looked like a different OS.

Same problem with printer like jai and jephthah.

I tried disabling SMB2; connecting by IP and NetBIOS; putting different users; downgrading 128 bits encryption to 40/56 bits; changing the way Windows manages workgroup...

Have you found any solution? I think it is a bug...

I also seem to have this exact issue and am using Samba 4 as the server. This appears when I turn 'preferred master' on in Samba. Windows 7 (Pro and Ultimate), and OSX have no issues accessing it by NETBIOS name.

I can access it by IP and am using 10240 Enterprise Windows 10. I will not deploy W10 widely in my environment until there is a fix (either in Samba or W10).

Appears Microsoft Broke SMB in Windows 10

Linux Mint 17.3 used as a file server
Linux Server not showing in Network Browser (on Win 10 no discovery)
Note: Normal access to shares using \\servername or \\IP_address
Win7 and older are completely normal...

Many Threads about this issue - this is driving Linux users crazy..

I too just wasted 2 hours on this BUG..
Many workarounds mentioned in the various articles - no success yet.

Get with the program Microsoft..!!

at first, please turn off password protected sharing in Change Advance Sharing Option on W10.

now go to the XP.

copy the driver from printer's cd installer.

now go to the printer
1. klik on add printer
2. select local printer, YES LOCAL PRINTER NOT NETWORK PRINTER!
3. Select on Create New Port, and then fill the port using computer name and the name of the printer on windows10, it will looks like this: \\windows10pc\the name of the printer, eg, in your case (as stae in teh picture) it it would be \\Inet\Canon LPB2900, klik next
4. choose "I Have a Disk", then klik "Browse", navigate to the *.inf file of the printer, then hit "OK"
5. Next-next until end, Now you're done.

it works on me.

hopefully, it would works on you
