I have been using Microsoft Outlook for a while and recently realized that I need to update the password for my old PST file for security reasons. I am looking for a manual method to change the password of a PST file without using any third-party tool.

Can anyone guide me on how to manually change the PST file password in Outlook (any version, like 2016, 2019, or Outlook 365)? Also, is there any risk of data loss while changing the password?

Microsoft Outlook users can set a password to protect their PST file. If you want to change the existing password, it can be done manually through Outlook Settings. This process is easy, but you need to know the old password.

Key Points:
Locate the PST file through Outlook's File > Account Settings.
Go to the Data Files option through Control Panel > Mail.
Use the "Change Password" option in Settings.
Set a new password using the old password.

Note: If you have forgotten the old password, the manual method will not work. This will require a special PST Password Recovery tool.

I recently tried to open my old Outlook PST file, but I did not remember the password. Tried several times, but nothing happened. Then I used the GainTools PST Password Recovery Tool, and it really recovered the password in just a few seconds.

No technical knowledge is required
All Outlook versions are supported
User-friendly interface
The password can be viewed even in the demo version

If your PST file is locked and you have forgotten the password, then definitely try this tool once. This is a very light and effective solution.
