Hello! My attempt to factory reset my HP Victus laptop has been unsuccessful as it repeatedly restarts at 64-68% completion for the past two days. The process stalls at this point, displaying a blue screen with the progress percentage, then briefly showing the Victus logo before restarting and repeating the cycle. I wanted to use System Repair via the F11 key but encountered an error. Additionally, when trying to download Windows from the cloud, I'm only given the option to select a local source.

I initiated the factory reset due to concerns after inadvertently installing malware. Although I removed the malware I wanted to ensure a thorough reset to safeguard my system.

I've seen this issue before with HP laptops. Try to create a bootable USB or hard reset your laptop. To do this, turn off your laptop, disconnect all external devices, and unplug the power adapter. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power. Then, reconnect the power adapter and try to turn on your laptop again. If it boots up try accessing the recovery options once more. If it doesn't work, the bootable USB method is your best bet.

Why don't you try contacting HP support directly? They can provide specific guidance for your model and might offer a recovery USB stick if you're unable to create one yourself. Additionally, they can run diagnostics to check if there's a hardware problem causing the reset to fail. If your laptop is still under warranty, they might be able to repair or replace any faulty components for free.

If your HP Victus laptop is stuck at 64-68% during a factory reset, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Wait It Out

  • Factory resets can take time, especially if the system is installing updates.
  • If it has been stuck for more than 2-3 hours, proceed with the next steps.

2. Force Restart

  • Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds until the laptop turns off.
  • Wait a minute, then turn it back on to see if the reset resumes.

3. Use Windows Recovery Mode

  1. Power off the laptop completely.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly press F11 as soon as the HP logo appears.
  3. Select TroubleshootReset this PC.
  4. Try the reset again with the "Remove everything" option.

4. Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool

  • If the reset keeps failing, use HP’s Cloud Recovery Toolto reinstall Windows:
    1. Use another PC to download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool from HP’s website.
    2. Create a bootable USB recovery drive (8GB or larger).
    3. Boot your HP Victus laptop from the USB and reinstall Windows.

5. Clean Install Windows Manually

  • If all else fails, you can manually reinstall Windows 10/11:
    1. Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website.
    2. Create a bootable USB drive.
    3. Boot from the USB and perform a clean installation.
Would you like a guide for creating a bootable USB or checking hardware issues?
