SLOW DELETEs

This has been going on for YEARS in several generations of MS Windows. One uses Explorer and tries to delete a Folder by obvious "right click and select delete." The small system window appears and begins to calculate the time to complete the requested operation. Over the years there have been several 'instructions' passed out purporting to result in a rapid delete. A couple of versions ago (Win 7?) MS claimed if you were willing to do a permanent delete it was near instantaneous and stated how (which was no different than what all of us do to delete a folder) and none of that ever worked.

What in H is going on !!!!???? Why is there no obvious mass population millions of times per day EASY and FAST delete for Folders?

I had 3 folder deletes (from a thumb drive, around 3GB each folder) take more than 40 minutes each. This is absurd. AT NO POINT in the process is any alternative method of deletion offered.
