Do you know Bighorn, I might just do that. It finally downloaded after 4hrs, but wouldn't finish the cumulative one I think it's called, that stayed at 100% but never finished and started again at 28%. These downloads are really frustrating sometimes.

I can get it from there, but how do I put it on the laptop?.

if you do not download on your laptop, a flash drive will suffice. Just copy the msu file onto the flash drive then plug it in your laptop and run the update from there. It will work. if possible, let it run over night. on occasion those updates take forever

I copy downloads to a USB Thumb drive to move them to a different computer.

Even when I downloaded it, it went through the motions of not recognising the file. And it still attempts to download it normally, but never gets anywhere, it just goes back to warning me again.

Try pausing and resuming the download, restarting your computer, and ensuring a stable internet connection. If the issue persists, run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and consider manually downloading the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
