I'm really looking forward to seeing how Microsoft makes inroads into the phone market. In the UK I don't know that many people with a Windows phone, but a very tech-savvy friend has a Windows phone and swears by it. Enough to consider switching away from Android.

The Windows 10 free upgrade on desktop could be a great gateway point for mobile users

Kind of depends on what you have. Internet + cable + internet phone is usually a good deal. That's what we have. But if you try to drop one of the three, or lower you internet speed, other charges often go up significantly.
