Fujitsu s1300 Scanner - Can't Connect

I purchased an AC Adapter to use with the subject scanner to, hopefully, increase the speed of the scan. However, I can't get the scanner to connect to my recently purchased Lenovo laptop. I've downloaded the scanner tool to no avail. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thank you, John. I thought all I needed was the power adapter. As it turns out, I still needed the USB cable to be attached. Scanner operating much faster now...again, thank you.
