Hello all,

I've just bought a new Kingston ssd for my laptop. I've installed the new ssd, been into the bios to select boot from usb media installation..tried to boot but says boot device not found...

Should the ssd be formatted first...is this a factor?

All input gratefully received, as need pc up and running! :)

Thanks,

What I've seen is in how the bootable USB drive was created and BIOS security settings play a major role in the boot process. I've used only the Microsoft Media Creation Tool for both Win10 and Win11 for creating the bootable USB drive. The MCT for Win10 gives choices for either x86, x64 or both on the same drive but call for an 8GB drive or larger. It wipes the drive before formatting and writing. The drive gets formatted by the MCT as FAT32. Just completed doing the same on a Win10 Notebook that got messed up by the owner.

There is no offering of the x86 [32-bit] version of Win11 although it can run the same programs as Win10.
