Window "unsnapping"

I have followed all the tricks, tips, and tweaks to settings and registry that I have found on this and other forums in order to prevent Windows from snapping and downsizing my open windows back to the upper left corner when the computer puts itself to sleep. While I have been able to prevent snapping and resizing while actually using the computer, I have not been able to find a solution that prevents all snapping. Is this actually possible, or is it just an annoyance built so deeply into the code that it cannot be undone?
