AVCHD video editor?

Any first hand suggestions of a lighter relatively small footprint freeware video editor that can tackle AVCHD files?
I'm not looking to be the next Francis Ford Coppola, just want a simple to use non watermarked editor that I can add titles, transitions and simple effects and render it as mp4.
I understand that I can convert to a more useable format but that's not my intention, I just want something that works and is free... not unlike Windows 10!
My laptop doesn't have an over abundance of juice for anything overly taxing, so again the lighter the better.

I am in favor of https://wave.video service. It includes a big diversity of fitted templates in different spheres. Or else you can use more professional platforms.

VSO Software used to make a free AVCHD editor but they stopped developing it. You can still download it from Tucows:

This is the only freeware one I know of since VirtualDub can only handle AVI.
