I found this article interesting and thought I would pass it along.
Although with many of us trending towards SSDs I'm not sure that it is of general concern, but....
For those using Network Attached Storage or just someone who may tend to employ larger mechanical spinners it might be worth a read.
Especially if we beginning seeing more posts about RAID or NAS configurations developing / showing issues.

Buyer beware—that 2TB-6TB “NAS” drive you’ve been eyeing might be SMR
Hard drives were already bad at random access I/O—but SMR disks are worse.
