How do we get windows 10 to open/use HEIC file format?

Gotta love that iPhone.
Rumor has it, that if you "Share" it the Apple system will automatically convert it to a normal .jpg before sending it on its' way.
Since it is not a broadly accepted or for that matter broadly used format, you'll likely need to resort to a converter.
I see there are a few out there including some batch style on-line converters.

Yeah, I found those converters while searching online. I did mange to fix it. There's a setting on the phone to change it.

So for any Apple users......here's the fix.
settings - camera - formats - the change to most compatible. Then you'll have to manually change all of your pic/video quality back to 1080 or 2k/4k.

That's probably the easiest way since it adds HEIC to Windows natively.

I also just found out that XnView has a plug-in that allows viewing/converting HEIC.

I don't own any iThings so have no way of testing these.
