Hi, after installing KB5040427, my computer displayed a black screen instead of the usual blue screen during the update - this was unusual. Once it booted up, I found that all my desktop shortcut icons and Start menu tiles had disappeared, and some programs in the Program Files and Program Files (x86) directories were completely gone. I had to reinstall these programs, including Edge browser.
Now, some programs are still giving errors even after reinstallation. Should I uninstall KB5040427 and try reinstalling it, or should I skip this update altogether? Will skipping this update compromise my system’s security? For context, I’m using Windows 10 Enterprise version 22H2 OS build 19045.4651 on an HP laptop. My desktop PC, which has lower specs, installed KB5040427 without issues and displayed a blue screen during the update.
