Program slow-down

A now ancient, but extremely useful (and functionally rare) Optical Character Recognition program called Kleptomania (for capturing text that Windows prevents you from copying), is showing the marked slow-down that security programs are always claiming with YES, YOUR PC IS SLOWING DOWN - IT IS NOT AN ILLUSION. I have not noticed the slow-down in other programs in my x32Win10ProV22H2. The only cause I can think of is increasing mismatch as Windows keeps on being updated inexorably. I don't believe that the program can be 'wearing out'. Is there another explanation, or is there a remedy ?
