SOLVED Quick Access does not list all recent files

I have checked "show recently used files in Quick Access" under Folder Options and most of my recent files do appear there...but a few do not. They are always the same files, and two of them are used daily. How do I add them to the list?

I created a new folder with an appropriate name in the right panel, put the files needed in it then dragged it to Quick Access. The files themselves can't pin there.

Thank you for your response. It didn't work for me, but I learned something I didn't already know. (e.g., that the entire folder containing the file must be pinned to Quick Access.) The problem is that the folder containing two of those files is already pinned to Quick Access...as are most of my folders. However, your response will help me keep files that I rarely use from cluttering the QA list!
