Up until start 2021, my seagate 1tb external backup drive working good.
Suddenly, computer cannot locate.
It shows up in device manager as working ok but cannot get any volume info.
It does not show in disk manager.
Have been onto Seagate support but they can only offer data recovery service.
Unit light is lite and have tried it on two other win10 os laptops with same result.
Any suggestions?

If having tried in both USB 2 and USB 3 ports and different computers with no result one most likely will consider the drive dead. I've seen the same with different brands and all but one was the interface in the case that had gone bad, the drive itself was still good but the failure usually 'deformatted' the data indexing, couldn't recover much or it was too corrupted to be useful.

ok. Thanks. Seagate have offered to try and extract any data they can from the (2yr old ) drive but I can't see the use as it's just backups mainly, which I can do a new backup to another medium. Just gunna lose all my movies and full series of GOT and BBT. Damn! Won't be buying Seagate again.
