How to Disable Windows 10 Spying

How to Disable Windows 10 Spying

As is common with technology these days, Windows 10 will send anonymous data from your PC to improve bug tracking (plus other data sharing you may have opted in to, perhaps unknowingly).

This has made recent headlines and there are lots of ways to manually disable outgoing data calls. There has been a free tool released called "Spybot Anti-Beacon" which can perform all of these tweaks in one go. At the moment, this is the easiest tool to use and one we would recommend (it's lightweight, free and seems to work well). We will update this article as other useful tools emerge.

You can download the tool direct from here (at the bottom of the page):

Once installed, the application is quite self explanatory. The initial "protection" tab contains a list of the common telemetry options that you may wish to disable - clicking "immunize" will disable them all:

It is also worth checking out the "optional" tab, as some of these features may be worth disabling (be careful not to block the Bing IP addresses, unless you are sure that you need to). OneDrive, Cortana and Web Search blocking may be useful if you wish to minimise data leaks.
