DS3.exe has stopped working

My friend got dark souls 3(steam version) yesterday and the game crashes on start up...after a few restarts the game started to crash 2 minutes later in game. Checked the log files, here are the few important things

Exception code: 0xc000001d
Fault offset: 0x0000000005cac105
Faulting process id: 0x2184

Any possible fix?

We need to know more info about the computer. Just in case he/she has an Nvidia card here is a post from the Steam help forums pertaining to that game crashing.
