Excessive security alerts

Previously Avast, and now AVG, is constantly interrupting my activities to alert me to a quarantining procedure it has done, in which I have no say. It simply informs me and I have to close the antivirus window to continue with my 'project'. How can I prevent this nuisance ? I have asked AVG community and got NO response.
