External monitor on laptop

Hi all. I am using a Lenovo Yoga, connected to a 24" Acer monitor via HDMI. Even though I save the setting to only use "show only on monitor 2", it keeps reverting to monitor 1. This is annoying when I log in for a quick job and I have to repeat the process of connection monitor 2. Is this usual'

I have a similar problem. I want the display settings to always be DUPLICATE, but it changes to EXTEND on its own, even though I tell it to keep the setting. There must be a way to lock it into DUPLICATE.
