How to Prevent "Show News and Interests on the Taskbar" from Re-Enabling

Whenever I disable the "Show news and interests on the taskbar" setting, it turns itself back on after a while. The setting works as expected and hides the news and interests when it's off, but then it reappears on my taskbar and the setting is automatically turned back on after about 10 minutes. How can I stop this from happening?
