No password entry field after sleep

I have been using W10 on my HP laptop for some time without problem. I have the computer set so that I have to enter a password to logon and a password for coming out of sleep. For the last couple of weeks I no longer get the enter password field following coming out of sleep. Password on logon is fine and works normal. I have tried blind password but that does not work. If I logout of my account and then put the computer to sleep than all is OK but if it goes to sleep after a time out the only option I have is to restart the computer. Currently the way I am getting round the problem is to say that a password is not needed to come out of sleep but I don't like doing this as my computer is not secure.

Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone any ideas how to resolve it
