Printer will not print in portrait

Had this problem for months.
Brother printer and windows 10.
Defaults are set to portrait but always prints half page landscape.
I read somewhere about a problem with a windows update in the past but can’t find a cure.
Gotta be an easy fix surely, as I looks like loads of people have ha d this problem.
