Hi I have recently discovered a trojan on my windows 10. I performed a clean install and ran various scanners and no virus has been found since
I'm still a bit suspicious of this file in the system32 folder

DESKTOP_(my account username) HistoryPrediction.bin

can anyone tell me if this is a normal file that keeps updating

thanks
:)

Hi mich,

That is a normal Windows 10 System32 file and ought to be left alone.

If your anti virus program gives you an alert about it, you ought to declare it a safe file.

I suspect it is something to do with Cortana Settings,

I don't have a DESKTOP_(my account username) HistoryPrediction.bin, in my system32 either

I have most of my cortana settings switched to 'Off', except Search online and include web results

Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts & more 'Off'
Device search history Improve search results for on-device content using my device search history 'Off'
Search online and include web results 'On'
Web search history Improve web search results using my web search history from signed-in devices 'Off'

check which Cortana settings are 'On' or 'Off''

most likely to be linked with 'Device search history' & 'Web search history'

Good thought, Brett. I have Cortana turned off, but, I would have thought, Cortana or not, the file would still be there??
