How does one officially get out of this. I no longer have the time nor the inclination to continue being a lab rat for MS. It was fun while it lasted but I would just like to stop.

Volunteering for the Insider program could be considered a good deed. Of course you know that "No good deed goes unpunished".

to opt out of the Insider Program :
goto Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update,

should you wish to rejoin later, follow the above & select - Get Started

I do suspect that if you do this with 10586.29 you might still get all the regular updates but no insider stuff forever.
