Hello,

Am setting up Windows Defender for the first time.

Very confused over what settings I want to make in it.

if someone could help me out a bit with
it, would be appreciative.

I have typical home use.
Just Comcast, which handles all my internet, etc.

So,

I seem to have:

Private Networks: Not Connected
Guest or Public Networks: Connected

Firewall state: ON

Is this what I want; confused over the private and public options ?

*Any other settings I should check, and possibly change ?

Thanks,
Bob

Do you have a private internal network?

I probably do with multiple machines and devices.

I have never altered Defenders settings...it seems to protect against everything all on its own!

Your home network-if you have a wifi network with a router inside your house and have a password to use it, is private. Any other network, anywhere else, is public. That's my philosophy.

I noticed while I was playing video games there would be some random stutter especially when the game tries to read data from HDD. compared to windows 7 or windows 8.1 programs would take longer to start which is weird since windows 10 is more optimized.
The optimize the game for Windows 10. some times that takes a Clean Install of game, or set the game to compatibility mode.
