WinZip Problems ?

Hello,

Something must have changed.

I cannot seem to use WinZip anymore.
It has always resided on my pc, and never had any problems using it.
It did what it was supposed to, and that was that.

Now, all that happens is that their site comes up, with
what is truly "a demand" wanting $ to download.

Seems like no more free ?

Is there a link, or site, where I can possibly download a
free copy, and use it as before ?

Or, anything functionally equivalent ?

Thanks, and regards,
Bob

Winzip has been trial/shareware for a while now. If you want to use it you have to pay for it. I personally am using Winrar, but the paid version.
An alternative is 7zip which is open source and FREE. It does what Winzip does and more.

might want to consider it

If you had a licenses version installed then it may have upgraded to the latest version automatically which would then ask for payment to use. If this is the case then just uninstall it & reinstall the version you purchased - you’d require the purchased key as well to activate it.
Otherwise Windows now can natively zip & unzip several files so for basic operation this is enough.

Agree with all of the above, been more years than I care to remember since WinZip was free. I put 7-Zip on my computers.

Don't know why anyone would use Winzip anymore as it's largely irrelevant. 7Zip is free and has better compression. Zip is built-in to Windows and is an ancient compression harkening to the days of ARJ,ACE,LZH etc.

I suspect only unsuspecting noobs would download and pay for it.
