Black screen when switching users

Hi I am new to this site, supposedly a computer expert [for those I get it right, those I don't, I hate to think what they say]
My wife is reading her Phd in law and the laptop supplied by the University cannot handle the load, so she has hijacked my desktop.

Win10 pro 21H1
Processor i7 [email protected]
RAM 16gb
Storage 4TB + 32TB NAS
Graphics Nvidia GeForce GT730 Display Dell P2714T
Bios Dell A24

There are two problems:

1st When switching users {both Admin} or signing off user, the display goes black and stays that way until the display is turned off and the on again.

2nd Microsoft Word 365 quite often scrambles the screen, she has several documents including PDF's open at the same time { 20 -30 documents}
however open another program at the same time and it display is fine.

Hi,

disable all power saving features including screen savers and sleep/hibernate and then download the latest drivers for your GPU.

Have done all of that and have windows version 21H1which is the latest update.

Believe have sorted the second problem Word scrambling display.
I have disabled "Hardware Graphic Acceleration" in word settings File>options>Advanced>Display> Hardware Graphic Acceleration: check tick box.
will monitor over the next couple of weeks and confirm either way.
