Can't display laptop screen on TV using HDMI

I've been using a HDMI cable to project videos on my laptop onto my TV for a while. However, for some reason it has suddenly stopped working. I have tried multiple cables, updating my graphics driver and changing the resolution. My laptop recognises the tv is connected but will not let me project anything. When I go on display setting and try switching to 'Show only on 2' it doesn't keep my changes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's a strange one!

The only thing I can think of that you haven't tried in your explanation is; have you tried connecting the HDMI cable to another HDMI connection on the back of your TV?

I've not tried it in a different port but I know other devices work in the same port as I'm trying. I'll try the other port anyway thanks.
