I accidentally installed English (GB) speech recognition with the scroll wheel, and haven't been able to find any way to remove it.

It's using valuable space on my SSD and I'd rather not have it, I don't intend to use speech recognition at all.

You can see here in the optional feature history that it was just installed, it didn't come as part of the windows installation. https://imgur.com/ERnvqGi

In the Manage Optional Features list, there is no uninstall button, simply a Manage button. https://imgur.com/6QJKDwJ

When I click the manage button I am brought here https://imgur.com/tSLn5Mn

And as you can see I don't even have a GB or UK language installed. English (Canada) has been installed the entire time.

I have found the location of the installation in my windows folder here https://imgur.com/Aphsjd3 but I can't manually delete it, and I assume it would just reinstall itself.

I just can't find anywhere to uninstall this item.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi 123456789a,

a long winded way to solve your problem. :)

1: add US English pack and make it the default system language.

2: remove Canadian English pack and log out.

3: log back in and the re-install Canadian English and make default, remove US English and log out.

4: log back in and see if you have any remains of US English and you might be lucky!.

5: run Disk Cleanup and remove any junk you may have on your system:

Disk cleanup in Windows 10
Applies to: Windows 10
  • To delete temporary files:
    • Search for Disk cleanup from the taskbar and select it from the list of results.

    • Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.

    • Select OK.
  • If you need to free up more space, you can also delete system files:
    • In Disk cleanup, select Clean up system files.

    • Select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.

    • Select OK.
I hope it helps as I cannot find any other way to deal with the problem!. :)

Be careful. The language packs are linked to all language features on the computer, so you do need the default
Try this:
right click the start icon and select the command prompt (Admin.

Copy and paste Lpksetup /u
If you are lucky, in the Window which then pops up, you may see the English GB together with the option to uninstall it.
