Comm ports in device manager

Do tell more about the computer, Desktop or Notebook, make and model. How old is it? What kind of comm ports are you looking for? Newer computers no longer include the 9-pin or 25-pin Serial ports nor the 25-pin Parallel/LPT/Printer port.

The ports may be associated with the device. For instance, if you had a printer which used com ports you could set that up using Settings-Devices and Printers&scanners. Then look at Print server properties.

USB ports function with many more devices than the traditional com ports did. Have you check Device Manager for any problems? Maybe updating the drivers is necessary. Do various devices work in all the ports? Some USB 2 devices may not work in USB 3 ports even though USB 3 is supposed to be "fall back" to USB 2.
