How to fix headphones not showing up in playback device?

I'm having trouble with "headphones not showing up in playback device" error when I connect them to my Windows 10 laptop, really annoying!

Fix problems with setting up your laptop Headphones
On Windows 10: Select the Start button, then select Surface Audio in the app list. Under Devices, select Surface Headphones, then select Device details. In the Paired devices section, select Disconnect for the device you want to disconnect. On iOS or Android: Open the Surface Audio app. Tap Settings next to Surface Headphones, then tap Paired devices.

Check both headphone jacks to see if you're fully plugged in because sometimes you can take them out without realizing.
If you have them plugged in but still facing the problem of headset not showing windows 10. Try plugging in your smartphone to check if it is working or not.
