went to check on updates, and found that the update history was only showing a small number of listings, all since 1/19/2019. What has changed, as I used to be able to see a much larger listing of updates?

Just as a guide, in your "Update history" you should have -
1. Featured update,. Windows 10, version 1809
2. Quality updates - e.g. for office, one note, etc
3. Driver Updates
4. Definition Updates
5. Other Updates

There is quite a few updates since version 1809 was released in October 2018.

version 1809 os build 17763.253. Just happened to be looking at your thread, and then was checking to see which "KB..." and noticed that the history was very abbreviated.. Per StevenG I checked my update history listing and I see #1, #2,#3,&#4, but the updates listed are only 1,6,2,1,Is the listing now limited to any updates installed after version 1809 was installed/

rcolio, I don't understand this "but the updates listed are only 1,6,2,1, Is the listing now limited to any updates installed after version 1809 was installed/"?

The first release of Windows 10 October 2018 update named v1809 was with OS build 17763 and later (when problems were found) an OS build 17763.1 was released to try and rectify problems, then, it was completely stopped due to more intricate deletion problems and other driver problems etc.

As per my list, all updates (#2,3,4 & 5 in my list) are reinstalled with every version update (#1 in list) e.g. version 1809, 1803 etc and the OS build 17763.253 (that you have mentioned) is the 6th OS build of v1809 second release. In total v1809 has 8 OS builds up to current (date 10 Feb 2019) which is two more OS builds from 17763.253 that you have mentioned, they are: January 8, 2019—KB4480116 (OS Build 17763.253) and January 22, 2019—KB4476976 (OS Build 17763.292). See my attachment to what I have as my updates as an indication and an example of v1809 and that I've listed in #'s 1 to 5.

Please Note: I don't know if you should have exactly the same updates (as every system is different and has different updates) but this is a guide for you. Hope this helps, cheers!

Formerly known as Windows Defender, Microsoft Defender Antivirus still delivers the comprehensive, ongoing, and real-time protection you expect against software threats like viruses, malware, and spyware across email, apps, the cloud, and the web.

Very true, as I’ve been using it for 2 year now and no 3rd party anti-virus and its worked 100% with no threats or blue screens etc etc.
