Of my five systems, only the ones I did a manual updates check have gotten the update. This is not the first time so something is going on and has been since the Creator's build.

I am researching, so hopefully I will discover the root of the problem soon. I think one of the recent updates was supposed to take care of this but if that is true, it has not.

Just used an ISO to upgrade an Anniversary Update machine to the Creators Update.
Expected afterwards that a manual run of Windows update when then fetch KB4022716.
It did not.
Instead it retrieved and installed KB4022725, and try as I might it refused to get the latest update through Windows Update, so.....
I just went to the Microsoft Catalog and downloaded and installed it manually.
Not sure what's going on.

I see a KB4022723 in the catalog, is the 2725 a typo?

Today, neither of the machines I checked found the 2716. I was kidding earlier, but maybe it did get caught up in the cyber attack, in some manner.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I do not see KB4022716 listed on that same list, although it still seems to be available from the catalog.

Yep.... late at night poor hand eye coordination. I probably should have just copied and pasted, or a picture / 1000 words
KBs.PNG

Those are the two I'm talking about, only on another machine I was repairing for a friend yesterday.
Got the 2725 automatically (more or less) although I was manually checking windows updates.
The 2716 would not come down through windows updates, I tried multiple time, multiple reboots, multiple cleaning of the software distribution folder, and multiple update troubleshooter.
Finally just went to get it from the Microsoft update catalog and installed it that way.

Edit: Sorry, I was looking at the previous build number...

Nope.
You gotta know when to hold them / know when to fold them.
I think I'll stick with what I've got and not ask for another hit and risk busting.

the previous Cumulative update for the Creators Upgrade was KB4022725 (6/10/2017),
KB4022723 (6/27/2017) is the latest for the ANNIVERSARY Version

Yes, I know, that is what I meant by previous build.

For the first couple of days, when the system checked for updates if found KB4022716 but was restricted by regulation from downloading.

Now, it does not even see the update. Someone on the Microsoft forum said they had pulled it. If it did have some type of problem, I am glad my additional systems had not gotten it so I can compare with the ones which did.

I did get two C++ updates, probably because Steam installs it.

Anyone tried the replacement for 2716 which seems to be KB4034450. Perhaps Insiders only right now.. since I don't see it on the update catalog..

The article is a little confusing until you realize it was written for the initial Slow Ring release of 2716. The only relevant part of the article is the update on 7/5 which explains the replacement update to fix the black screen situation. I would expect the new update (KB4034450) to be out to the public in the next few days, maybe Tuesday?

I have to wonder, if the update had that problem, why did the Insiders not find it? But neither of my two systems, which did get 2716, has exhibited the black screen on boot. The remaining three systems never saw the update was even available.

Probably just unique enough so as not to have gotten sufficient early reporting / insider hub attention and upvotes.
single fix for an issue causing some laptops to boot to a black screen.

I assume this is that KB4034450 ???

[edit]

I am seeing some strange things with my 2716 system. In Mail, I cannot change accounts. In IE, I cannot post links in a newsgroup.

I have not seen any reference to the virtual assistant... any comments if anyone is using it?

Yes it got it from the catalog website on the 26th and it did solve a serious issue I was having. I prefer to go get the major ones rather than letting WU handle them.
