We’re having an issue with connections between computers on our network. This problem began after we replaced an old Windows 10 desktop with a new(er) one.
We’re trying to transfer data from a Windows 10 Pro machine to several Windows XP machines in a separate WORKGROUP. The XP machines have static IPs, NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled, and SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support on the Windows 10 machine. All computers are visible on the network.
One of the XP machines is now asking for login credentials, which we’ve provided correctly, but it keeps showing “The user name or password is incorrect” and won’t connect. The other XP computers don’t have this issue.
We’ve tried verifying user credentials, creating new users, and checking network settings without success. The old Windows 10 desktop still connects to the problematic XP machine without any issues, but the new machines do not.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Thanks!
