Mysterious white rectangle

Windows 10 OS....Sudden appearance ( 3-4 days ago) of white rectangle in lower right corner of desktop. It obliterates the lower scrolling arrow in browser . no effect when either right or left click on it. rebooting has no effect either. Any ideas as to what it is, harmful or not and how to remove it. Thanks
