SOLVED RAID1 hdd requirements

In reading about setting up RAID1, in some places I see something like, "the drives have to be identical," but in others it says only that they need to have the same capacity.
So, do the drives need to be identical, or do they only need to have the same capacity?

RAID 1 means you have a copy of the files on each drive. You can put different branded drives together, even with different capacity, although the smallest drive determines the RAID capacity. It is recommended that the drives have at least the same capacity in a RAID 1...
if one drive fails you still have a complete copy on the other drive...
