Residual McAfee files

After having a disastrous affair with a Dell laptop I decided to purchase a new Acer Aspire 3 i5. So far so good, had Acers before and never any trouble.

Problem is, it came with McAfee AV pre installed, I decided to go down another path and un installed it using 'Programs & features' in control panel.

However I still keep getting dire warning pop ups from McAfee telling me I am seriously infected (which I know I am not)

Anyone know what files to delete or any other way to stop this from happening please..?

Try downloading and running McAfee's removal tool. I had to run it twice to remove all traces from my HP. https://download.mcafee.com/molbin/iss-loc/SupportTools/MCPR/MCPR.exe

My current PC is Aspire. IIRC as I set it up I had the choice to just not install McAfee.

In the days when I used to buy off-the-shelf PCs and laptops the first thing I always did was a fully clean install of Windows without all the bloatware.
