Screen Brightness Question

Although I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, this is more than likely not a platform issue (I think). I am using a Toshiba laptop (about four years old), and my battery charger is no longer lighting up the screen. The screen is visible, as if running without the charger plugged in, but the background remains dark. In fact, when I plug in the charger, the screen immediately becomes slightly darker.

Is there a way to test if this is a battery-related problem? I would like to explore all possibilities before investing in a new battery.

Maybe your power settings have changed. Check the "Power settings" > Screen brightness when plugged in.
