Screen Saver to Black Screen to Desktop

I have a HP desktop running Windows 10.

All of a sudden when I move the mouse with the screen saver on, I get a black screen for a few seconds before the desktop appears.

I don't believe I have ever had that happen in the past.

Does anyone know why I am getting a black screen for a few seconds before the desktop appears?

I have turned the desktop off fully and then restarted it. Still happening.

Which screen saver? I don't usually use one, but I experimented on one of my laptops and didn,t duplicate your problem. What are your system specs? Hard drive specs? Any similar results with other tasks? That info may give some ideas.

How much memory is in your computer? The screen saver might be using a large chunk of it and it just takes some time to exit the screen saver.
