Search window on TaskBar

The Search window on my Task Bar does not work

No matter what I do, I cannot get it to work

If I try to type, it goes a way

If I click on it I get a dark gray square with nothing in it

I tried every recommendation on Google and YouTube

The only thing that makes it work is a System Restore

But that puts me almost to square one

Maybe try hitting the Win key and then type your search. Maybe that will work instead?

Try this:
open Windows Settings and select Update & Security, open Troubleshoot. Scroll down to Additional Troubshooters. scroll again to search and index and run the toubleshooter there
