Setting up Cortana

When I attempt to set up Cortana I'm asked to type my user name and "Microsoft" password. So for, so good. Takes me to a box that requests I enter my "Windows" password. If I don't have one continue. I click on that and it says "Your password does ....". So, my problem seems to be that at some point I had a "Windows" Password. Nothing I try works. I have a new hard drive, and just installed Win 10. How can I resolve this issue (find the mysterious Windows Password?
